Often known as 'Baby Grange', Bin 389 was first created by legendary Penfolds winemaker Max Schubert in 1960, combining the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. The 2021 vintage continues this celebrated tradition with aromas of blueberry Danish, chocolate croissant, blackberry and mulberry, layered with bay leaf, pink peppercorn and subtle aniseed. The palate brings together generous black and red fruit with cocoa, savoury beef and roast lamb notes, while fine, tea-like tannins and a seam of acidity provide structure and lift. Seamlessly integrated American oak rounds out this full, harmonious wine, which is already rewarding and has the potential to develop beautifully through to 2055.
